Distinctive: Greenwich Entertainment has obtained U.S. distribution rights to Swan Tune, the ballet-themed documentary that will open Lincoln Center’s 52nd Dance on Digital camera Competition Friday evening.
The movie – a Dogwoof, Visitor Media, Mercury Movies, and Peaceful Ghost output, directed and co-written by Chelsea McMullan – premiered previous September at the Toronto Worldwide Film Pageant. Greenwich ideas to release Swan Song in theaters in the fall.

“Swan Music immerses viewers within a person of the world’s foremost ballet providers as it mounts a legacy-defining new output of Swan Lake, directed by ballet icon Karen Kain on the eve of her retirement,” notes a description of the film. “The verité-pushed aspect documentary carefully follows Kain and a group of youthful dancers drawn from the Nationwide Ballet of Canada’s ranks, weaving Swan Lake’s extraordinary creation procedure with personal scenes from the subjects’ private life as they force towards just one of the most substantial opening nights in their company’s heritage.”
In a statement, McMullan and Sean O’Neill – producer and co-author — mentioned, “We’re thrilled that Swan Tune will get to audiences in the United States thanks to the assistance of Greenwich Leisure. Swan Song was a rollercoaster ride to make and we’re so fired up to share this all-access, intimate, adrenaline hurry of a movie with audiences. We followed our topics for a lot more than two many years, from their non-public lives and into the rehearsal place as they strived toward a vocation-defining opening night—and we can’t wait around for audiences to see the attractiveness and the pain of ballet on the large monitor.”
As Deadline described final August, actress Neve Campbell is amid the government producers of the film. She educated in dance at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto, and among the her display screen credits is the 2003 Robert Altman dance-themed movie The Enterprise. Fellow EPs of Swan Tune include things like O’Neill and McMullan, Jennifer Baichwal (Anthropocene: The Human Epoch), Nicholas de Pencier (Anthropocene: The Human Epoch), Oli Harbottle (The Shed Leonardo), and Anna Godas (Enjoying With Sharks).
Swan Song is developed by O’Neill (LIDO Tv, Crystal Pite: Angels’ Atlas) and Christina Carvalho.
Greenwich’s Andy Bohn negotiated the acquisition with Dogwoof’s Ana Vicente on behalf of the filmmakers.
Together with Swan Song, Lincoln Center’s Dance on Camera lineup includes Obsessed with Light, directed by Sabine Krayenbühl and Zeva Oelbaum. The documentary explores the profession of Loïe Fuller, a groundbreaking determine in dance and stage lighting, who attained famed all over the switch of the 20th century. Fuller’s work is explained to have motivated Taylor Swift, Shakira, and choreographer Invoice T. Jones, between other notables.
